:
A LIST OF FIRST-CLASS LAWYERS NEAR YOU

The lawyers listed in this website have handled successful cases relating to issues of political asylum based on sexual orientation. They are among the most experienced lawyers in the country.

We include them here and recommend them highly. Nevertheless, all applicants for asylum remain solely responsible for making contact and negotiating with the lawyers they select. This is not Asylum Research’s responsibility.

Please note that we do not recommend attorneys in every state. Therefore, we advise you to look for a lawyer in the state located nearest to where you live. An experienced lawyer in this matter really counts.

If you have any problems finding a lawyer near you, please send us a note to info@AsylumResearch.org, and we will get back to you.

HOW WE CAN HELP

Asylum Research assists refugees in selecting the right lawyer for their case. It does not influence, interfere or get involved with the information or services provided by any lawyer listed here. It is the policy of Asylum Research to advise refugees to speak with at least two lawyers before making a decision. The best preparation is to ask as many questions as possible before choosing the person in whose hands you will place your future in America.

DISCLAIMER:

No one should assume a person’s sexual orientation because his or her name or photograph appears in this website. The names of immigration agents, lawyers, businesses, and organizations which frequently show support for Asylum Research are included here. It would be inappropriate to draw conclusions about their sexual designations because of their support for Asylum Research.

TIPS:

PAYING A LAWYER

Most immigration lawyers’ fees for an asylum case range from $2,500 to $7,000. Remember, the cheapest lawyer is not necessarily your best choice. The one who will devote the most attention and care to your case is. Ask the lawyers you consult how they will prepare your case and what they will do to help you if you decide to hire them.

DO I HAVE TO PAY
FOR THE FIRST INTERVIEW?

The first interview with a lawyer doesn't mean that you will hire him/her. However, you should be aware that some lawyers charge a fee for the first interview. You may ask when making the appointment whether or not a fee will be imposed. At your first appointment with an attorney, be sure to bring all your documents. It is also helpful to write a summary of the case with as much information as possible before seeing the lawyer. The more your lawyer knows about the facts of your case, the better he/she will be able to represent you. If you do not speak English and your lawyer does not speak your language, we advise you to hire an interpreter or bring a friend that speaks English fluently.
